WANTED: The iLimb Hand from Touch Bionics. His upper amputation classified as a shoulder dis-articulation, Jay is missing his entire arm shoulder joint through pinky finger. This makes him the most difficult patient to fit with an upper limb prosthetic. The iLimb Hand is a tremendous innovation in the field in that it has articulating knuckles, independent fingers and an opposable thumb. When used in conjunction with ‘The Luke Arm,’ named after the character of Luke Skywalker by Deka Research, it returns full joint capacity where there was previously none.http://www.touchbionics.comshapeimage_21_link_0
The Boston Arm: The Boston Arm is a standard issue for upper limb amputees. It’s been around for quite awhile and depending on your level of amputation, it can be quite useful. However the war effort over the past eight years has produced tremendous drives in prosthetic innovation. Myoelectrics combined with true bionic technology is producing some awesome updates to a previously thin upper limb prosthetic category. Look below to see more of what’s on the way, in development at just over the horizon. It’s truly a new day and Jay can’t wait for more articulate upper prosthetic.http://www.liberatingtech.com/shapeimage_22_link_0
